Summer Fun

Crazy Hair!! LOL yeah so I really need to cut the boys hair, but just haven’t been able to bring myself to do it yet. It’s much longer now, these pictures were taken over a month ago!!

Back in June we took the boys to their first visit to the zoo!! We had a wonderful evening. My personal favorite was the giraffes. They were so comical with their long tongues reaching out to get you. It was so much fun for all four of us.

The boys are little monkeys. They love to climb!!! Ethan is in the picture on the left and he can’t figure out how to get down. They are also both climbing the back of the couch. Here is shot of Nick, he can’t quite get over…… YET!!

Well a lot has happened in the past couple of months. The boys had their first extended stay away from home that went very well. My parents and Trevor's parents each took care of one child for 3 nights. I was ready to have them back by the 2nd night. I missed my little buddies. But it was better then wrestling them to sit and be quiet during the Bible Convention. As soon as we got them back home they decided to cut a total of 8 teeth between the two of them in only 4 weeks. So they have been cranky to say the least. And they have discovered the highest pitch their voice will go and love to use it EVERY DAY!!!…. I really hope this is a faze that quickly goes away. Lately they have been playing with Mega Blocks, and balls. They LOVE to explore outside (Ethan likes sticks and Nick likes leaves) Ethan LOVES books and will get very upset when story time is over. Ethan also has learned how to play trucks, he’ll push it around going “brummm, brummm… beep! beep!” We are working on feeding themselves with a spoon, boy that is messy! Ethan can so summer saults and Nick is trying to do them. Oh did I mentions that Ethan can climb out of his crib? I am not ready for the toddler bed yet, but the day is coming soon. My babies are growing up and are toddlers. I really miss the baby stage but this stage is so fun too. They have such personalities and a sense of humor!! They make me laugh every day and can’t imagine my life with out them. I am so blessed!!   X’s 2!!!

Spring Time

Well I am happy spring is here but it NEEDS to stop raining!!! (and no more tornado threats; hiding in the closet with toddlers is terrible!!) The sun does so much for my mood and I have been enjoying getting to go work in the yard and take the kids out. I can’t wait to blow up the kiddie pool for the kids…… and me too!!
We had a couple of dry day (FINALLY) so we got to go to a bond fire this weekend and had a nice time. The boys had fun running around outside, and so did Trevor. He played dart gun hide and seek with a bunch of the kids that were there. Should I post a picture? He may not like that, but maybe if his adoring fans ask for it….. lol here it is!!! Love you honey!!!



-- So, we had to call poison control for the first (and probably not the last) time. Fortunately ingesting Vaseline is non-toxic. But it make a BIG mess in the hands of a 19 month old. Ethan had it head to toe!!! And he had the thermometer stuck in the jar too...lol. Our new rule is anything that should not be eaten is not allowed in their room no matter how high out of his reach we think it is. He climbs on everything. He is now climbing on one of his toys to turn on and off the light switch. **OH!! OH!! and he is giving kisses and he says “Muah!!”  I LOVE it!!!!!
Anyway, that is all the time I have tonight. Bye!

The boys may be harder to keep up with, but they are SO much fun and are really starting to interact with each other and that is just so touching to my heart!!! Today Nicolas was crying because I was in the kitchen on the other side of the baby gate. Ethan goes over to him and gently pats him on his back and says "hi, hi, hi" as sweet as he can!!! It was SO precious and it worked!!! Nick stopped crying and went to play with Ethan, ripping out and crinkling the pages on an old phone book.... Oh well I guess it's cheap fun....lol

Snuggle Time

I have been warned by other mothers of twins about how they start working as a team to get into trouble. We had our first incident of this a couple weeks ago. I put Ethan and Nick in the same crib to play when Ethan decided he wanted out and used Nick as a step stool and jumped out!!!!....lol I am sure this is not the last time Nick will be used in this way since he loves the deep pressure. He loves it when Ethan hits him or kicks him. He thinks it's all fun and games!! And Ethan isn't being mean when he does it anyway, he IS just playing. At least they are both tough little guys!! When I ran in to find Ethan had jumped out of the crib, as soon I picked him up he stopped crying and daddy asked him "What did you think you were doing?" he answered 

Reading Time

with a BIG grin and said "heeeee!!!!!" :) I think he would do it again if given a chance.... lol

Ethan has added thank you to his vocabulary.... it's SO sweet. "dee do" is how he says it.... so cute!

He is even picking up words that I have not yet tried to get him to say!!! The other day he was sitting in my lap at the meeting when the speaker said "Turn in your Bible's to......" The next thing I know Ethan says "Bible, Bible, Bible." all the while he is hitting the Bible I have in my hand. So that goes to show our little ones are really listening!!!

April Update

-The boys got dressed in their best suits for the memorial of Jesus Christs death las night. As the bread was passed Ethan said "More!" -translated "I want to eat that!" He didn't take his eyes off the plate for as long as he could see it....lol

-Afterwards we went out for ice cream, something we have not done in a VERY long time. No surprise that they LOVE ice cream!!!! Nicolas was especially happy after eating ice cream and was very giggly when a friend (Dillon) made funny faces at him. :)
-Nick had his appointments in Kansas city last week. Nicolas performed very well!!! He did things we didn't even know he could do yet, he was holding out on us!! His hearing test and MRI came back with good results, so no worries there. And he is improving on so many levels right now so very fast!!! Walking, standing, manipulating his toys and sippy cup, trying new foods and just in general getting in Ethan business!!! I am so happy to see him making so much progress!!!!
-Ethan is finding items and putting them up to his ear like a phone... lol I have thought about getting him a toy phone but he is being inventive in what he finds to be pretend phones like a compact mirror or a small empty box. The funniest one is the shower head that is on a hose that is hanging in the tub!! Credit goes to our friend and baby sitter Solitaire for finding that toy "phone!" LOL  His comprehension of language is so amazing!!! If you say "bye" or "outside" he will go to the door, like right NOW!! That is what I get for saying it out loud. He is trying to reach the handle to open the door.... I am in SO much trouble with this little ball of fire!!! I am going have to go take him outside now.... When I get back I will tell you about his climbing escapades!!!!.......

-OK, so the other day they were playing in their room. Trevor opens the door to check on them and you won't believe where he was!!!!! He was on his dresser!! And I guess he thought he wans't high enough so he moved his container of wipes, was standing on that and reaching up and pulling things off the self on the wall!!! And ever since then he has been constantly climbing on everything he can!!! I have a Monkey!!!!!
-It is really getting difficult to keep up with the both of them and keep on top of the chores and other all the other stuff mommies need to do. I hate it when everything gets plied up then I get overwhelmed. I almost, no, let me rephrase that, I DO need some extra help around here every once in a while. I need to figure something out. I end up getting on here to blog when I feel overwhelmed so I can recall to memory all the happy stuff. It makes me feel better and re-energized to remember all the happy moments!! Oh and I am finally eating breakfast and drinking some caffeinated tea... that will help too! :)

ETHAN NEWS:

He says about 20 words now (or forms of words)

do=dog (and he thinks cats are dogs too…lol) / hi / hey / bye bye/ up / dow = down / no / mo=more / mama / dada / Was at= what’s that? / ba ba= bottle or drink /    ….. just to name a few.

 

A big thing to him right now is climbing and seeing what he can fit into. He is a now climbing onto the couch and into his book shelf, and other stuff. He has learned how to get down safely too.

NICOLAS NEWS:

Nicolas is doing good with his walking, he is making good progress there. He is very interested in exploring his world now getting around everywhere!! He is a wiggle worm that can’t sit still now!!! But I am glad he is exploring. He likes to get into Ethan’s business now to know what he is doing. He is also now determined to try new foods now!! I am SO proud of him!!!

The boys are 1.5 years old today.

Baby it’s cold outside!!!

So believe it or not we had a blizzard…. in Missouri!!! It’s been crazy here with all the snow we got, trying to keep warm and trying to keep from getting cabin fever. We got about 15 inches last week (and inch or more per hour) then another 5-6 inches yesterday. It has been pretty to look at BUT it’s VERY cold (negative 10 degrees this morning!) and brings a lot of complications to travel. Trevor was the scrub on call at the hospital so he ended up staying there 3 night since the roads were in no condition to drive on for a few days.

I took the boys out for a bit on one of the warmer days to see what they though of the snow. I snapped a few shots real quick before they realized they really didn’t like it out there. I am sure they will have more fun with it next year. My mom made their adorable hats to keep them warm.

All bundled up!!

Nicolas is pulling himself up. To the Left is a picture of one of his first “pull ups” He is so proud of himself and is pulling up on everything now!! He is also now crawling!! AND eating more and more new solid foods. Banana, pineapple, crackers, oatmeal and even bread crumbled in his baby food! I am so proud of him! In the picture below he has fallen asleep after playing hard!!
